Updated: Sep 23

On August 30th, the members and guests of the First Serbian Benevolent Society came together to celebrate the Krsna Slava of our society, the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Theotokos. They day was sunny and warm setting the tone for rest of the day's events.

The attending Clergy were the following:

His Grace Bishop Maxim

• Fr. Vasilije Cvijanovic

• Fr. Vasilije Gavrilovic

• Fr. Vidoslav Vujasin

• Fr. Djurica Gordic

• Fr. Evktime Kharadze

After the service and blessing of the Kolac & Zito, the clergy and board adjourned to the Cultural Center library where Bishop Maxim presented gifts to the Society, which included new published books from St. Sebastian Press and various other publishing houses, and an icon of St. Sebastian of Jackson. St. Sebastian was the first priest to be ordained in America and was also present at the consecration of the cemetery in Colma in 1901. Afterwards, everyone went to the pavilion for a wonderful lunch.

The event was ably chaired and organized by Fr. Djurica Gordic, Branko Perazich and his wife Liliana Perazich. The Society would like to thank the visiting clergy and guests for attending this event and celebrating the Slava together.
